Poster Art-Print Description:
Stock photo of a Mohel conducting the traditional Jewish circumcision ceremony, while the newborn male is held by his godfather. Mohel and godfather can be seen wearing a Talit, a traditional Jewish prayer shawl. Circumcision is a religious practice traditionally required by Judaism, performed in a ceremony called a Brit Milah. A mohel performs the ceremony on the eighth day after birth. According to the Torah (Genesis, chapter 17 verses 9-14), God commanded Abraham to circumcise himself, his offspring and his slaves as part of an everlasting covenant. Shot August 2006 in a Jerusalem synagogue.
