Poster Art-Print Description:
Stock photo of a young father holding his newborn son on a pillow, in the initial stages of a traditional Jewish circumcision ceremony. Father can be seen wearing Tefilin, phylacteries, on his left arm and forehead and covered by a Talit, a traditional Jewish prayer shawl. Circumcision is a religious practice traditionally required by Judaism, performed in a ceremony called a Brit Milah. A Mohel performs the ceremony on the eighth day after birth. According to the Torah (Genesis, chapter 17 verses 9-14), God commanded Abraham to circumcise himself, his offspring and his slaves as part of an everlasting covenant. Shot August 2006 in a Jerusalem synagogue.
