Poster Art-Print Description:
This is a stock photograph of two young polar bears sparring. Most of the sparring which occurs amoung younger male bears as seen here is usually a play activity, but can also be deadly and serious with older, dominant, and more aggressive bears. Their latin name is Ursus Maritimus and the bears are very strong swimmers. Playing, napping, and sparring are favorite activites as they wait for the ice to freeze on Hudson Bay. Once the ice pack freezes the bears will leave to hunt for seals out on the ice. Many bears have recently drowned while swimming from ice packs due to warmer temperatures making the ice less consistant. The ice pack is freezing later and melting earlier now due to warmer temperatures. They are considered a threatened species and one the most endangered by global warming.
