In 1780, during the Revolutionary War, British and Indian troops attacked the station in present-day Harrison County. Twenty settlers were killed and the survivors were marched to Detroit and held for the rest of the war. Butler's Rangers (1777–1784) was a Loyalist or Tory irregular militia regiment in the British Army during the American Revolutionary War.
