Polar bears like this one are very curious and will approach people and vehicals without any fear. Taken during early November, the bears are waitng for the ice to freeze so they can go out on the ice hunt their favorite meal of seal meat. The Ice Pack is freezing several weeks later and thawing several weeks earlier than in prior years due to global warming. The polar bear is now considered a threatened species due to melting ice caps and warmer global temperatures. Latin name is Ursus Maritimus. These bears are also amazing swimmers.
